What is Obscurium?

Obscurium or the United Republic of Obscurium is a a self declared state (commonly known as a micronation) with most of our activities taking place in North-Western Germany, although our citizens are from all around the World and we currently do not claim any territory.
Of course, Obscurium used to have proper land like any other country. But this land was so obscure, everyone just forgot where it was. And no one has been able to find it ever since. Hence the name.
Our goal is to bring people together to partake in the obscure wonders of this world, to create art and culture, to appreciate dragons and to establish the best state a people could possibly want. A state truly there for its people and a state filled with the obscure. Our state cooperates with the people and is built upon their ideas and direct participation while restricting their lives as little as possible.

But what exactly are micronations?
Micronations are projects that act like macronations (the ‘‘real‘‘ nation-states) and maintain diplomatic relations with one another all around the globe. The micronational community, i.e., the entirety of all micronations, consists of around tens of thousands of people all over the world. Unlike ‘‘Reichsbürger‘‘ and ‘‘Sovereign Citizens‘‘, micronations do not question the authority of the macronations surrounding them (and are also usually politically left-leaning). Unlike state simulations, however, the activities of micronations are not limited to the virtual space. There are numerous reallife events and activities, for example Micro Euro Summit and MicroCon. This also gives rise to serious projects, so that some micronations, for example, maintain sports teams, have non-profit status as associations, or even have observer status in UN organizations as NGOs. The United Republic of Obscurium is a small, ambitious micronation that is well integrated into the global micronational community. Become a member of a community where there are no boundaries. Work on a rocket program? Hold art exhibitions? Found a real university? Go on adventures? Make international friends? Everything is possible!​​​
