Ibexia Alpina and Mount Rubinox and Rio de las Torres

The United Republic of Obscurium and the Kingdom of Atlia, have had a close diplomatic relationship

ever since 2019. While minor territorial changes have occurred within Obscurium since then, Atlia has

expanded considerably, especially after the establishment of the Atlian Empire. Hence, recently the

idea was born, to create a condominium of Atlia and Obscurium, as a monument to this friendship.

President Zar Antonov of Obscurium proposed the Kleinwalsteral, at the Austro-German border, as a

location for this, and proposed two territories there.

One of these territories lies in the high mountains, around and above 2000 meters: Ibexia Alpina (named after the Alpine Ibex, which inhabits this area) and Mount Rubinox (taken from the writings of Clostridium Botulinum). The territory encompasses a large area around Mount Rubinox, a mountain, just below the Great Widderstein. It is locally known as the Leopoldshörnle, although its summit cross bears the name Gabihorn (with a wrong height). Therefore, it was decided to rename the mountain and give it a third name. The territory also includes the Southern and Eastern Ridges of the Great Widderstein and also the latter's main summit and is headed by the President of Obscurium and therefore considered the Obnscurian part of the condominium.

The second territory was given the name Rio de las Torres (River of Towers). It lies by the Breitach river, where, every summer, people build little stone towers or stone men. They are washed away each winter but also rebuilt every year. A testament to the human spirit, to rebuild the lost and destroyed over and over again. Rio de las Torres is headed by Prince Regent Luis of Atlia.

Both Counties are jointly administered by Atlia and Obscurium and only represent ceremonial claims,

with no actual territorial ambitions behind them. In preparation for these claims, President Antonov

visited each territory, placing the Obscurian and Atlian flags in them, from the 25th to the 29th of June.

Conclusively, the charter for the official creation of the Atlo-Obscurian Condominium of the United

Counties of Ibexia Alpina and Mount Rubinox and of Rio de las Torres, was signed by the two nation’s

representatives on the 30th of June 2024.
